Play Therapy with Adlerian Sandtray and EMDR

This course will provide an overview of the underpinnings of Adlerian sand tray play therapy and the adaptive information processing model of EMDR. Specifically, participants will explore how EMDR can be used with Adlerian sand tray play therapy. An Adlerian sand tray play therapy case study will be used to illustrate integrating the theories and applying skills. Participants will also utilize the case study in experiential Adlerian sand tray play therapy practice.

1. Describe basic concepts of Adlerian sand tray play therapy and the adaptive information processing model of EMDR.

2. Compare and contrast the four phases of Adlerian sand tray play therapy with the eight phases of EMDR.

3. Describe applying the AdPT and EMDR model with Adlerian sand tray play therapy.

4. Demonstrate the integration of skills from EMDR and Adlerian sand tray play therapy.

5. Utilize a case study demonstrating the integration of Adlerian sand tray play therapy and EMDR.

6. Describe three sand tray prompts that can be used to integrate Adlerian sand tray play therapy and EMDR.

EMDR Basic Training

Participants should have access to a sand tray and miniatures for experiential practice.
