This is how you renew your Certified Adlerian Play Therapist status for 2 years (through 2027)

Maintaining your certification
Your LEAPT certification as a Certified Adlerian Play Therapist is good for two years. Here are details of what to do to maintain your certification.
- Timing
- All certifications attained before the end of 2023 start the two-year validity period on January 01, 2024. (Renewal due before January 01, 2026)
- In general, the two-year period starts the first of the year following certification (e.g., someone achieving certification in June of 2024 must renew by January 01 of 2027).
- Your renewal is due December 31 of the year your certification expires.
- Continuing Ed requirements
- 8 hours of LEAPT special topics class time (can be one 8-hour or longer class or multiple shorter classes)
- 2 consultation sessions with a LEAPT Approved Consultant (your choice from the Presenters list)
- Ongoing use of Adlerian play therapy with children (50 sessions… this requirement is self-reported as being met. No documentation is required.)
- Maintain your status as a Registered Play Therapist or equivalent
- Renewal procedure
- Register on Arlo for “Certification Renewal” and pay the $50 fee
- Email the LEAPT administrator the Certification Renewal Checklist and the following information:
- Date and hours for class(es) attended to meet the training requirement
- Date and consultant used for consultation sessions
- Confirm your status as a Registered Play Therapist
- Confirm that you have conducted at least 50 sessions using Adlerian play therapy in the preceding 2 years
- If you let your certification expire, you will be removed from the certified list. There is a six-month grace period to meet requirements and reinstate your certification. You will need to retake the Certification Evaluation to be reinstated if the grace period has lapsed.
Prerequisites
To renew, you need to have previously been certified!! This is for people whose certification expires at the end of 2025 (those who became a Certified Adlerian Play Therapist before January 01, 2024)
