The Unspoken Hallmark of Adlerian Play Therapy: Creating Magical Moments of Connection

Learn how to intentionally create the "magical moments" of connection that transform Adlerian play therapy sessions through attunement, encouragement, and positive resonance.

Description

Children rarely remember the exact words we say. They remember how it felt to be with us.

Adlerian play therapy is built upon encouragement, belonging, and the healing power of relationships. While play therapists often focus on learning interventions and techniques, one of the most essential skills is the ability to create moments of genuine connection. These moments of attunement become the vehicle through which encouragement is communicated, lifestyle is understood, and play therapy clients begin to experience themselves and others in new ways.

Through lectures, demonstrations, experiential activities, discussions, and creative exercises, participants will learn how positive resonance develops within the playroom, why these moments matter for a child's developing brain, and practical strategies for increasing connection at every stage of treatment. Participants will explore how Barbara Fredrickson's concept of positive resonance and Dan Siegel's work on interpersonal neurobiology provide a scientific understanding of what Adlerian play therapists have long recognized: healing occurs through meaningful and encouraging relationships.
