The Case of the Missing RPT™: An Experiential Mystery for Adlerian Play Therapy Case Conceptualization

Clinical reasoning and case conceptualization are among the most essential skills for Adlerian play therapists to develop. This highly interactive 6-hour training invites participants to strengthen these competencies through a collaborative, case-based learning experience that transforms participants into clinical investigators. Working together, participants will examine progressively revealed case materials (including play observations, caregiver interviews, family constellation information, early recollections, expressive products, treatment documentation, and other clinical evidence) to construct comprehensive Adlerian case conceptualizations and intentional treatment plans.

Using an experiential investigatory format, participants will engage in progressively unfolding problem-solving activities that mirror the clinical reasoning process used in everyday Adlerian play therapy practice. Rather than searching for a single "correct" answer, participants will learn to organize and synthesize multiple sources of clinical information and connect conceptualization directly to purposeful treatment planning. Each activity is intentionally designed to promote thoughtful analysis, collaborative discussion, and practical application of Adlerian play therapy principles rather than memorization of techniques.

Throughout the training, participants will explore how clinical observations evolve into meaningful case conceptualizations that guide intervention selection across each phase of Adlerian Play Therapy. Emphasis will be placed on developing theoretically consistent treatment goals, selecting interventions that align with clients' unique lifestyles and developmental needs, and adapting treatment planning as new clinical information emerges.

By the conclusion of the training, participants will demonstrate greater confidence in organizing complex clinical information, developing theoretically grounded Adlerian play therapy case conceptualizations, and making intentional, evidence-informed treatment decisions that enhance therapeutic effectiveness across a variety of clinical settings.
