Adlerian Play Therapy with Angry and Aggressive Clients

In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to conceptualize and intervene effectively with angry and aggressive play therapy clients.

Description

This workshop is designed to help you understand the internal dynamics of the angry and aggressive play therapy client.  Using an Adlerian approach, you will learn how to conceptualize the child’s lifestyle and resulting behavior.  You will also have the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of play therapy techniques to help clients gain insight about their lifestyles and resolve underlying issues that result in angry and defiant behavior. In addition, you will have the opportunity learn and practice a variety of art, expressive, experiential, and play techniques to help play therapy clients learn to appropriately express and manage their anger. 

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 4 CONTACT CE Hours (includes 1 hour on Play Therapy Seminal or Historically Significant Theories & 3 hours on Play Therapy Special Topics).

Objectives

At the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

1.      Identify the underlying dynamics of play therapy clients who present with angry, defiant, and aggressive behavior.  

2.      List and describe three play therapy techniques to increase child clients’ coping strategies for managing hyperarousal.

3.      List and describe three play therapy techniques to help clients develop emotional regulation.

4.      List and describe three art and expressive arts techniques to use with angry and defiant play therapy clients.

5.      List and describe three experiential play therapy techniques to use with angry and defiant play therapy clients.
