In this interactive, refresher workshop course for Phase II of AdPT, you will revisit practice, and develop skills for exploring client’s life style.

Description

In this online, interactive workshop, the instructors will use discussion, encouragement, videos, and role playing to help you refine your skills so that you will be able to use play therapy skills and techniques to explore children's lifestyles. This refresher course will focus solely on PHASE II of AdPT to further improve your skills and techniques when gathering information from your play therapy client, their parents and teachers. The instructors will provide tips for effectively gathering information through the child’s play, parent intake, and teacher meetings. Attendees will learn effective strategies and techniques for playfully engaging with the child to learn about their view of self, others, and the world.

Objectives

  1. Describe the concept of understanding the play therapy client’s lifestyle in Phase II of AdPT.
  2. Describe the relationship between the phases and the degree of therapist directiveness in Adlerian play therapy.
  3. Describe and demonstrate one vehicle for exploring at least 3 lifestyle elements in your sessions with a child in Adlerian play therapy. (This would total 3 distinct ways to explore lifestyle—could be skills or techniques.)
  4. Define the elements of a play therapy client’s lifestyle.
  5. Explain the importance of considering the culture of play therapy clients when understanding their lifestyles.
